flower(꽃)과 flour(가루)의 발음이 같은가 다른가?

영어 단어에서 강음과 약음, 장음과 단음을 듣기만해서 구별하기 쉽지 않다.

it is not easy to distinguish between strong and weak sounds,

long and short sounds in english words just by hearing them.

영한사전엔 단어에 있는 음절표기가 발음부호엔 없는 것도 문제다.

another problem is that the syllable notation

in the english-korean dictionary is not included

in the pronunciation marks.

이래서 사전을 본다고 해도 미식 원음과 다른 표기로 인해 한국인 누구도

미국 사전을 보지 않고는 바르게 읽을 수 없는 단어가 수 백 개가 된다.

so even if you look at the dictionary,

there are hundreds of words that no korean can read correctly

without looking at an american dictionary

because the notation is different from the original pronunciation.

flow.er ==> / fláu.ər /(o)

flour / flauər /(x) ==> / flauər /(o) or / flaur /(o) / flaur /(o)

해설 : flow.er 는 두 음절 단어로 강세가 있어

/ fláu.--/에 힘을 주고 띄고 /-.ər /는 낮게 읽는다.

flour ==> / flauər /(o) or / flaur /(o) /flaur /(o)

음절이 없는 한 음절 단어로 처음부터 끝까지 같은 높이로 읽는다.

단, /ər/의 /ə/는 뒤 r음을 내기 위해 편의상 붙은 것으로 잘 못임.

아래 사이트에서 두 단어의 발음의 차이를 미국인의 원음으로 확실히 들어보자.

[ search dictionary ] 에 “ flower ”를 찍고 결과를 보고 난 다음,

다시 그 자리에 “ flour ”을 넣고

둘을 비교 해보면 정확한 음절의 숫자가 나오고 음성도 나온다.
