<모래시계와 촛불>

an hourglass and a candle sat side by side on a desk.

모래시계와 촛불이 책상 위에 나란히 있었어요.

the candle said,

“i burn out too fast.”

촛불이 말했죠. “나는 너무 빨리 타버려.”

the hourglass replied,

“and i run out too slow.”

모래시계가 대답했어요. “나는 너무 천천히 흘러가.”

then they both laughed

— realizing they were doing the same thing:
spending their time to give light.

그리고 둘 다 웃었어요

— 사실 둘 다 같은 일을 하고 있었으니까요:
자신의 시간을 써서 ‘빛을 주는’ 일을요.
